Internships

Opportunities for unpaid internships are available during the spring semester, fall semester and the summer.

During the Spring and Fall semesters the requirement is 15 weeks with a minimum of 16 hours per week for a total of 240 hours.

During the summer semester the requirement is 10 weeks with a minimum of 24 hours per week for a total of 240 hours. These opportunities include involvement in the Investigations Division, the Security and Safety Division, Crime Prevention and Training Division and/or the Administrative Division.



PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

There are two internships each year that are paid internships ($8.00/hour).

These internships are very specific and are co-sponsored by the GW Police Department and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

The intern works with the Coordinator of the Campus Public Safety Institute (a training academy for campus police officers in Washington, DC).

The requirements for these opportunities are as follows:

Internship only available during the following timeframes:

May-July (9-10 weeks) or October-December (9-10 weeks)
4 hours per day / 5 days per week
Required work hours are 8-12 noon (or) 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Need transportation or ability to take the metro to work at the host institution (always in Washington, DC).  Knowledge of basic computer programs is required
