GW Graduate Education Center, Arlington

The Graduate Education Center, Arlington (GECA) is a George Washington University off campus graduate education center, serving working professionals and offering seven masters programs and three graduate certificates. The GECA normally has between 1,000 and 1,100 registrations each semester. The facility has the capability of holding approximately 400 people.

The Graduate Education Center, Arlington is located in the heart of Arlington, Virginia at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Monroe Street, one half block from the Virginia Square Metro Station (Orange Line). Housed in the One Virginia Square Building, GECA occupies the entire fourth floor of the building, approximately 22,000 square feet. The GECA includes 14 classrooms, three computer labs, three conference rooms, seven offices, a reception area, student lounge and a faculty lounge. The facility can be accessed from three elevators and two walk up stairways. The facility can be secured by locking two outside doors and a pull down metal gate in the reception area similar to those found in shopping malls. The classrooms and computer labs are locked at all times when not is use.

Access to the Facility

The Graduate Education Center, Arlington is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 10:00 PM. From 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM, the full GW staff (10 people) is available. From 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM, one or two night coordinators are available in the facility to assist faculty and students. The center is open Saturday 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM and one or two coordinators are on hand.

The building operation is different than the GECA. The building's main lobby is normally open only from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday. The under building garage, for which a monthly or an hourly charge is required to park, opens at 7:00 AM. A building garage attendant is available during the week from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The building also provides a lobby attendant during the week from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The building and garage are locked at all other times. Access to the building or the garage after normal building/garage hours for GECA employees and other tenant personnel is by passkey only.
