Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can we have on the course at one time? The SUMMIT can accommodate groups of varying sizes. We require a minimum of 8 people to bring a group on the course. We have accommodated groups as large as 150-200 people. If you anticipate bringing a large group of 60 or more people, please contact us at summit@gwu.edu to discuss your session. For every 12-15 participants, one facilitator will be involved in your session.
How long is a session? Depending on the goals and objectives for your session along with your group's stage of development, sessions can range anywhere from 2 hours to a full day. We recommend spending a minimum of 2 hours on the course to make the experience worthwhile. Fees for non-GW groups start at a 3 hour minimum.
What if I have already done a challenge course? You are never too experienced to benefit from a challenge course! The previous experience that you (and/or other group members) may bring to your session is only one aspect of your group's dynamic. There are always new challenges to overcome and ways to improve your group's dynamics, cohesiveness and leadership skills.
Can I bring my organization for more than 1 session? Absolutely! After an initial session, bringing your group back for a follow up session(s) is a great way to reach that next level. Follow up sessions can also be used to work on specific group issues as they arise throughout the year in your organization or as a way to help bring closure at the end of the year.
Can I request a specific facilitator? Yes! If you already have a specific facilitator in mind that you would like to work with, please indicate her/him on your online reservation form. We also invite you to look over the facilitator bios to see if there are facilitators who may be especially suited to work with your group. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but cannot guarantee their availability.
What if I need to cancel my session? Please refer to our cancellation policy by clicking here.
What is the cost? For all GW students, student organizations and academic courses, use of the course is FREE! For all other GW departments/offices and non-GW affiliated groups, please contact us at summit@gwu.edu for more information about usage fees.
How far in advance do I need to schedule a session? As far in advance as possible! The SUMMIT operates on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner you complete the online reservation form the better able we are to accommodate your group on your preferred date. Keep in mind that larger groups (over 60) require more time to coordinate. If you have any other questions concerning the SUMMIT, please do not hesitate to contact us at summit@gwu.edu.
