Meet Our Staff

The SUMMIT team consists of a unique group of GW individuals including professional staff, faculty and students. These individuals have undergone an intensive training and certification process to become proficient challenge course facilitators. The SUMMIT team meets regularly for additional trainings and development in addition to undergoing observations for evaluation. All have a keen interest in helping groups become teams, strangers become friends, and individuals transform into leaders!

SUMMIT Facilitators:

Ally Pregulman

I am an undergraduate student, a TRAiLS guide, and a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma. I am majoring in International Development and Anthropology. I became a SUMMIT facilitator because I love being outside and working with new groups of people! I think it is really awesome to see the ways people can come together by doing new activities like the SUMMIT. My favorite SUMMIT element is Washington’s Crossing. One thing about me you may not know is that I traveled to Sierra Leone on a student ambassador program last year. course! I also really love to play games! My other hobbies include: being outdoors, listening to, writing, and playing music, reading, and exploring DC! My favorite

Ashley Venneman

I am a Student Activities Coordinator in Mount Vernon Campus Life. I have been at GW since August 2007. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I love challenging individuals and groups to step outside their comfort zone. While not on the SUMMIT, I love exploring new places around DC. My favorite SUMMIT elements are Hippo Rapids and Foxhall Foxhole and I obsessively LOVE coffee and the color red!

Aubre Jones

I've been the Director of Recreational Sports since 1989.  My job at GW has always revolved around creating fun experiences for GW students.  I wanted to join the SUMMIT Staff because I love to meet new students and introduce them to some of the many programs which we run through the Office of Campus Recreation.  I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and am a lifelong fan of the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and the 2008 NBA World Champion Boston Celtics.  I am married and have two boys, ages 13 & 10, who keep me on my toes when I'm not working at GW.  You can often find me on the racquetball courts in the Lerner Health & Wellness Center teaching the sport to students in my Exercise Science classes.

Bridgette Behling:

I’m an Assistant Director in the Student Activities Center. I’ve been on ropes courses before and am excited to have the opportunity to assist a group through the process of accomplishing the tasks we set up for them.  I enjoy observing group dynamics and processing through them.  Being a SUMMIT facilitator is a great opportunity to be outside during the work day!

Cameron Klementik

I am an assistant student activities coordinator for Mount Vernon campus life and am also a study abroad program assistant with the Elliott School.  I am at GW to get my Masters in higher education administration. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I had some experience with outdoor challenge courses and wanted to help groups with team building. My favorite SUMMIT element is Martha’s skies because you look silly trying to do it.  When I am off campus I like to go out to eat and try new restaurants and cuisines.  I once danced in a 46 hour no sitting and no sleeping dance marathon for kids with cancer.

Cora Walker

I am a junior studying business administration with a concentration in finance. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I was a facilitator in high school and then had a great experience on the SUMMIT and wanted to continue facilitating at GW. My favorite SUMMIT element is GWEB because there are four different options for endless possibilities.  Off campus I enjoy eating cupcakes, watching movies, playing with my cat and being outside!

Elan Schnitzer

I am a staff and marketing coordinator for events and special services through Mount Vernon Campus Life.  This is my third year working at GW.  I chose to be a SUMMIT facilitator because quite frankly, I thought it would be fun.  I also think it’s important to take advantage of the opportunity to approach experiences from as many perspectives as possible: for instance, student and teacher (or teaching assistant, in my case), leadership retreat participant and facilitator, and, most recently, SUMMIT participant and facilitator.  I’ve found that being able to approach these experiences from both the perspective of participant and facilitator makes them much more full and educational. My favorite SUMMIT activity is Washington’s Crossing. Having recently finishing my masters degree at GW, I find myself with a little more “free” time than a few months ago.  I still seem to spend a bit too much time in the office and on campus but, when I do make it out in to the outside world, I like to walk and bike around the city, spend time at home in front of the fireplace or in the backyard, and read for pleasure. I’m almost always the slowest eater at the table.

Erika Asgeirsson

I am currently a senior majoring in History and pursuing a minor in Sociology in Journalism I came to SUMMIT as a participant a few times and had so much fun I wanted to do more SUMMIT!  My favorite SUMMIT element is Mount Summit. Aside from SUMMIT I love participating in alternative Spring Breaks.  I have a twin sister who goes to GW as well.

Hannah Kast

I am a senior majoring in international affairs and pursuing a minor in psychology and history.  I chose to become a SUMMIT a facilitator because it is a fun change of pace to be outside and I love watching different groups work together. I am a huge fan of all of SUMMIT’s elements. I am also a member of GW’s student movement for reach change as well as the GW figure skating club. I am from Boston so consider me a die-hard red sox fan.

Heather Schoff

I am the Coordinator for Leadership & Development in GW’s Student Activities Center. I decided to become a facilitator because I have had other experiences on ropes courses and I have always enjoyed those experiences.  Being able to train and provide opportunities for internal and external groups is exciting and extremely rewarding.  My favorite SUMMIT element is Hippo Rapids! Since I just relocated to the DC area, I have enjoyed going out and around the city to find fun places to hang out, eat and take in the sites.  In general, I love to play and watch sports, travel, cook/bake, try new things (with few limitations), hike, be outdoors, hang out with friends and family, and do as much as possible with the time I have!!! I am a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz, so much so that I can do the voice of the lion (Bert Lahr, who played the Cowardly Lion).  When I was in high school I even played the part of the lion.

Isaac Agbeshie-Noye

I am a community director with the GW Housing Program. I have been at GW for two years and enjoy exploring and riving around DC. I chose to be a SUMMIT facilitator because I wanted to assist in leadership development of groups on campus. My favorite SUMMIT element is the buff and blue boulder dash. I am from Ghana, West Africa.

Jennifer Baron

I am a higher education administration graduate student as well as a community coordinator with GW housing programs. I chose to be a SUMMIT coordinator because I wanted to get better connected with students and staff of GW as well as to find a healthy outlet in the city. Big George’s ski pole is my favorite SUMMIT element. Off campus I enjoy writing poetry and training for the DC ½ marathon this spring! I was walking in NYC once and accidentally tripped over Christina Applegate’s luggage! She gave me an autograph and I quoted anchorman the rest of my visit.

Joe Laliberte:

I love to surf and have fun in the outdoors.  A member of the class of 2009, I’m studying Political Communication with a minor in Business Administration.  Mount Summit is my favorite Element on the SUMMIT.

John Estrada:

Originally from Texas, I’m studying International Affairs and Journalism.  I like the outdoor and team-building, so the SUMMIT was my calling.  I enjoy exploring DC outside of Foggy Bottom and I’m usually seen in the Marvin Center 4th floor running around.  My favorite SUMMIT element is Big George’s Ski Pole.

Katie Rosenbusch:

I am a doctoral student in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. I am originally from Texas and attended Texas A&M University for my bachelors and masters. I currently work as a research fellow for the Center for the Study of Learning at the GW Ashburn Campus. I like being a SUMMIT facilitator because it is a chance to meet new people, have fun and be outdoors. I love to travel and explore outdoors. Fun Fact: I spent the last three years in Indonesia—the greatest adventure was climbing Mt. Rinjani.

Kelly Carder:

I am a Community Director for GW Housing Programs. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I am a HUGE fan of anything outdoors, running, biking, hiking, etc. I also enjoy working with groups to help them achieve shared goals. Mount Summit is my favorite SUMMIT element because it takes extreme focus and complete attention to your team and the feeling of getting over the wall is exhilarating. While not on the SUMMIT, I enjoy running, biking, hiking, swimming, reading, singing, going to concerts, meeting new people, exploring D.C. neighborhoods, eating, and hanging out with friends. I love living on Mount Vernon and I am training for my first marathon!

Laura Courtney Fain

I am a masters student of higher education and administration. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I am interested in outdoor education and leadership development. I love watching the Cosby show in my free time as well as listening to and writing music. I am a huge fan of shopping and watching movies. A fun fact about me is that I do not use spoons. My favorite SUMMIT element is Mount Summit.

Laura Harrington:

I am an undergraduate student at GW majoring in sociology and minoring in geography. I chose to become a SUMMIT facilitator because I love the challenge of the course and I wanted the chance to be able to see groups grow and learn about each other while completing the Summit. My other interests include: Alternative Breaks trips, exploring DC, and walking to the monuments. My favorite SUMMIT element is Mount Summit and my favorite foods are pickles and cookies!

Mallory Boyd:

I am the Co-Director of Academic and Career Development Services in the School of Public Health and Health Services...boy is that a mouthful! I have worked in higher ed for 17 years....I was just a youngster when I started! The best part of my job is that I get to work with students (undergrads and grads), alumni, faculty, and employers from all over the country! That just about covers everyone! I am originally from Washington DC but was a transplant New Yorker for many years. Additionally, I have two young children who keep me pretty busy but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Maria DeBonis:

I work at GW’s Career Center and I am also a graduate student. I have always wanted to be a ropes course instructor ever since I participated in a few during my undergraduate time at Sacred Heart University. I also enjoy assisting others to realize their potential. My favorite SUMMIT element is GW Falls, the trust fall platform, because the entire team has to be focused and strong. All the skills and techniques need to be incorporated for this to be successful. I enjoy snowboarding, walking, a good Italian meal and spending time with my friends.

Molly Kastendieck

I am a coordinator for student involvement in the Student Activities Center. I am entering my third year at GW during which I spent two years as a grad student in the higher education program.  I’ve always enjoyed ropes courses in the past and I love to participate in team-building activities.  I enjoy watching and playing sports and my talent is that I can juggle!  Off campus I play softball, volleyball and basically go camping/hiking wherever. My favorite SUMMIT element is Hippo Rapids because there are so many ways to facilitate it.

Robert Snyder

I am a senior advisor to the Dean of Freshman and am managing director of Mount Vernon Campus Life.  I have been at GW for just about over 5 years and love the museums and galleries that DC has to offer. I also enjoy biking trails in and around DC, restaurants and cooking and GW basketball (especially when we are winning).  I became a SUMMIT facilitator because it is an opportunity to welcome people to the Mount Vernon Campus and show it off as a resource for all of GW. My favorite SUMMIT element is Mount Summit because it seems so daunting to groups so it is a great reward to see them finally succeed at it. I am proud to be doing my second tour at GW and my sister is also an alum; my parents were also charter members of the Parents Association Advisory council.

Tamela Blalock

I am the Advanced Degree Program Coordinator for the Teacher Preparation and Counseling Programs in the Graduate School of Education and a graduate student here at GWU.  During the day I usually fix what is broken, which is why I became a Summit facilitator.  I am much more invested in building partnerships and fostering an environment of teamwork.  I grew up as a military child and found myself in a completely different environment every few years.  Those experiences have taught me that all my mini-communities, though temporary in nature, are part of my foundation as a person, in addition to being my extended family.  Besides, the military side of me believes everyone could benefit from a boot campus experience.

Tim Gowa

I am a junior studying political science. I became a SUMMIT facilitator because I have had a great relationship dealing with SAC in my time at GW. My favorite SUMMIT element is fox hall foxhole. When I am off campus I enjoy reading, biking and playing capture the flag. I used to play competitive dodge ball.

Tim Miller:

I am the executive director of the Student Activities Center and an adjunct faculty member for the exercise science department.  This is my 7th year at GW. I was part of the group that created the course and felt like this could be a great resource for our campus community so I decided to be a facilitator as well. My favorite SUMMIT element is trust fall because it forces people to work together and it is the most tangible lesson that can be gained on the summit in my opinion. In my free time I enjoy playing soccer, playing music with my band and spending time with my wife and dogs. I have registered for the Marine Corps Marathon once and the Army Ten Miler twice but have never been able to run any of them.

Tom London:
I am an undergraduate student at GW majoring in International Affairs. I became a SUMMIT
facilitator because I am interested in watching leadership evolve within groups of peers.  Also, I feel as though helping others overcome challenges can further my own interpretation and ability to attain real leadership. I enjoy participating in various service events in the city and eating at J Street (kidding of course).  Also, I find a good walk around the city can be very soothing. My favorite SUMMIT element is the infamous Mount SUMMIT.  It posed one of the biggest challenges for my group and it was also the most intimidating element.  Contrary to an element like Hippo Rapids, Mount SUMMIT is an obstacle that a group might actually face (ascending a wall).  A group’s success is very tangible here, and I think most team members feel a sense of pride after overcoming a physical obstacle of that magnitude. One fun fact about me is that my last name is London and I am from London.
