If you are having trouble using GWireless, you may want to try a few simple troubleshooting steps in order to resolve your problem.
1) Restart your computer, then try to connect again. Restarting the computer can solve a wide range of issues, and is often the first troubleshooting step recommended by STS technicians. 2) If you are unable to connect to the GWireless network, ensure that you are within range of a GWireless access point. If you are not, please relocate and try again. If you are not connected to a wireless network, you may see this icon in your system tray: If you have already connected to GWireless, you should be able to view your wireless connection properties by opening the Control Panel and selecting Network Connections. You may need to click "Switch to Classic View" in the upper left corner of the window. If your wireless network card is connected, the icon should look like this: ![]() 3) Verify that your wireless network card is enabled. Some computers disable network devices when they are not in use to save power. Also, some users disable their wireless cards while using a wired connection. In order to determine if your wireless card is disabled, open the Control Panel, click on System, then Hardware. Click on the Device Manager button to open the Device Manager, and look for the green Network Adapters icon. ![]() Ensure that your wireless card does not have a red X, yellow exclamation point or yellow question mark beside it. If a red X is present, right-click on the device name and select Enable. If there is a question mark or exclamation point beside the device name, call the STS Hotline at (202) 994-7041 for troubleshooting assistance.
If you have tried these steps and are still experiencing issues, please call the STS Hotline for further assistance. |
