Wireless Network Card
In order to connect to GWireless a
computer must have an 802.11b or 802.11g wireless network card
installed. 802.11b and 802.11g simply refers to the type of card, with
the "b" and "g" types being the most common - if your computer has a
wireless card installed, it is likely compatible with GWireless. If
you would like assistance determining if a wireless card is installed
in your computer or if your wireless network card is compatible, please
contact the STS Hotline at (202) 994-7041 for assistance.
If your computer is not equipped with an internal wireless network card, external cards can also be purchased at most electronics stores as well as the GW Bookstore. Depending on the ports installed on your computer, you may need to purchase either a PCMCIA or USB external ethernet card.
