George Washington University students have access to Blackboard, a full-featured online course management system that allows students and faculty to interact and collaborate online. In order to use Blackboard, a student must first create a NetID. NetIDs can be created online via the Account Center. Please note that a NetID will not work for Blackboard for 24 hours after creation. Login attempts prior to the 24 hour point will fail. In order to log into Blackboard, go to http://blackboard.gwu.edu and enter your NetID and password into the login field. The login screen also has links to Blackboard FAQs and support resources. ![]() If you are unable to login, please
verify that you have entered your NetID correctly (your GWU email
address without '@gwmail.gwu.edu') and that your account has been active for
more than 24 hours.
After you have logged in, you will be given a list of courses for which you have registered. If a course is not listed, there are several possible explanations. You may not be listed on the official class roster (this may happen if you add the class later in the semester, or are signed into the class by the professor), the professor has not yet made the course "available" to Blackboard users, or the professor may have decided not to use Blackboard for that particular course. If you are able to log in successfully but do not see a course, please verify all of the above items with the professor. ![]() If you experience trouble accessing your
Blackboard account or have any questions about using Blackboard, please
contact the STS Hotline at (202) 994-7041. You can also contact STS via
email at sts@gwu.edu.
