NetID Creation
|
||||||
|
BEFORE CREATING NetIDs: NetID creation requires a current PIN, i.e., a non-expired PIN that you have used at least once to log into GWeb Info System. If you are new to GW, have not used GWeb Info System previously, and/or have just gotten your PIN reset by the security office, please log into GWeb Info System and reset your PIN from the default PIN to one of your own choosing before attempting to create a NetID. A NetID is a single username that members of the GW community use to access many systems at George Washington University. Using your NetID you can log into your GWMail account, access various resources on myGW and view classes in Blackboard, as well as create accounts for Acad and Computer labs. Additionally, campus residents will use their NetID to log into Cisco Clean Access. Your NetID is your GWMail address without the "@gwmail.gwu.edu" portion. If you include the @gwmail.gwu.edu part when attempting to log in, you will get an error. In order to create your NetID, you'll
need to visit GW
Account Central. You will need to enter your GWid
and Banner PIN. Please note that the system will not accept a default
Banner PIN. Before creating a NetID, you need to have logged into Banweb at least once to change your
PIN.
When selecting a NetID, please be mindful of the fact that this address will identify you within the University for the duration of your time at GW and cannot be changed under most circumstances. As a result, we strongly recommend selecting a professional-sounding NetID, such as your first initial and last name. ![]() After selecting a NetID, you may need to
wait for a few hours before the NetID is active for the GWMail system.
You MUST allow at least 24 hours after NetID creation for your account
to be active in Blackboard. If you experience any trouble creating your
NetID, please contact the STS Hotline at (202) 994-7041.
