The GWid system was implemented in order to protect members of the GW community from identity theft. Whenever possible, GW departments are replacing the use of Social Security numbers with a GWid, a unique number assigned to each member of the University community. A letter containing your GWid should have been mailed to your permanent address. If you did not receive this letter or would like to retrieve your GWid online, you may do so using the GWid Retrieval Page, located at http://gwid.gwu.edu/RetrievalMethods/ . Depending upon your status at the University, you will be required to select one of three potential methods for GWid retrieval.
