Windows Firewall - Vista

Enabling the Windows Vista Firewall


Step 1:  Click the "Start Button" (located in the lower-left of your screen), and select "Control Panel."



Step 2:  The Control Panel will display either in Control Panel Home view (pictured below) or in Classic View (pictured in step 3). 

If in Classic View continue to Step 3.  If in Control Panel Home view, please click "Classic View" on the top left of the window. 
 


Step 3:  Next double-click on the "Windows Firewall" icon.
 


Step 4: The Windows Firewall window will look like the picture below if Windows Firewall is turned off.  Click on "Change settings".




Step 5:  In Windows Firewall Settings, select "On (recommended)" to activate the firewall.
 


Step 6:  After activating the firewall, click "OK."
 


Step 7: Your firewall has now been enabled and will help protect your computer from unauthorized access.
