Cisco Clean Access Information

The George Washington University has implemented Cisco Clean Access (CCA) in an effort to facilitate a safe computing environment for ResNet users. In order to use Cisco Clean Access, each computer must meet specific security requirements, which are listed below:

  • 2000, XP or Vista ONLY (95/98/Me are no longer supported)
  • All Critical Updates installed
  • Automatic Updates enabled
  • GW-provided Symantec Antivirus installed and set to update regularly
  • Spybot Search & Destroy installed

Apple/Linux
Cisco Clean Access is only for computers using Windows operating systems. Users of Apple and Linux operating systems are encouraged to take steps to secure their computers, such as:
  • Install operating system patches
  • Use antivirus software
  • Use a firewall
  • Use a password for all user accounts

For instructions on how to ensure that your computer meets all requirements for use of Cisco Clean Access, please visit our Secure Computing site.

Windows users will also be asked to download and install the Cisco Clean Access Agent, which will communicate with the Clean Access system in order to ensure that each computer is secure.
