LRE and Hub Setup

Assembling Your LRE Modem and Ethernet Hub

Here are pictures of the equipment that you signed out from ResNet

Other Required Equipment: Each roommate must have an additional Ethernet cable. These can be picked up from STS.

Step 1: Connect the two parts of the LRE Modem AC Adapter. Plug the round end of the LRE Modem AC adapter into the back of the LRE Modem, labeled PWR.

Step 2: Plug the other end of the LRE Modem AC adapter into the nearest wall outlet.


Step 3: Plug one end of the provided Ethernet cable into the ENET port on the back of the LRE Modem. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Uplink port on the back of the Ethernet Hub seen below. The Uplink port is also labeled port 5.

Step 4: Plug the Ethernet Hub AC Adapter into the back of the Ethernet Hub (above).

Step 5: Plug the other end of the Ethernet Hub AC adapter into the nearest wall outlet.

Step 6: Plug the provided telephone cable into the port, labeled WALL, located on the back of the LRE Modem (Note: you can still use the port labeled PHONE to connect your telephone set).

Step 7: Plug the other end of the provided telephone cable into the top port of telephone jack in your living room. In West End, this jack should be labeled with a 242-xxxx telephone number. In City Hall, the active LRE jack is the top port on the double jack in the living room. The jacks in City Hall have been labeled with a red "R."

Step 8: Make sure the following lights are illuminated on the equipment.

LRE Modem: READY, ETH & POWER. Ethernet Hub: POWER & 5.

 




 

Note: If any of the mentioned lights are not on, please recheck that all of the cables are correctly connected and secure.

Step 9: Plug an Ethernet cable that you purchased into any of the remaining ports on the Ethernet Hub: 1, 2, 3, or 4. (Note: The indicator light on the front of the Ethernet Hub will become illuminate corresponding to the port in the rear. This will occur after completing Step 10).


Step 10: Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your computer's Ethernet card. On laptops, it usually is on the side. On desktops, it is usually on the back.

Step 11: Please restart your computer to complete the installation process. If any of the lights on the LRE Modem are not illuminated, please verify that all the cables are connected correctly. (Note: Each additional roommate must repeat Steps 9, 10, and 11 to get connected).
