FALL 2009 SEMESTER Monday - Thursday 8:30am-6:00pm Friday 8:30am-5:00pm Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm Sunday CLOSED The last appointment is taken 30 minutes before closing . If you feel you have a life threatening condition or need emergency care when our offices are closed, go to the nearest Emergency Room. Take your insurance information with you as you will be responsible for charges you incur there. Students enrolled in the Student Health insurance plan through United Health Care should call the triage nurse listed on the back of your health insurance card.
Note: When the University is closed, the SHS is also closed (i.e. holidays, weather-related emergencies, etc.) In the case of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. If you're on-campus, please contact EMERG at 202-994-6111.
If you need urgent care when the clinic is closed, contact the University Police Department on the Foggy Bottom campus at (202) 994-6110.
Important Information
GW complies with the DC Immunization Law that requires 2 doses of Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine (MMR) for students under 26 years of age. The effectiveness of two doses of MMR is greater than 90%. In order to protect our students, WE RECOMMEND THAT ALL STUDENTS WITH IMMUNIZATION HOLDS FINALIZE THEIR VACCINATIONS, AND ALL STUDENTS WITH MEDICAL OR RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS REVIEW THEIR STATUS WITH THEIR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. IN THE EVENT OF AN OUTBREAK ON CAMPUS, STUDENTS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND CLASSES FOR THE DURATION OF THE OUTBREAK.
The Student Health Service will email all students under 26 who are not in compliance with the law to remind them of the need to become compliant and to insure that they are informed about the potential for infection.
Students, regardless of age, may obtain MMR vaccinations for a fee through the Student Health Service.
We recommend that all GW staff who are in close contact with students check their MMR immunization status. We suggest that you get 2 doses of the vaccine if you are unsure if your MMR vaccination is up-to-date or if you have never had the vaccination.
