Can sexual assault be prevented?

Sadly, the answer is "no."  The only way to prevent sexual assault, is to prevent perpetration of the crime. Anyone can be a victim of rape or other crime. It is important to remember that the rapist is always to blame for the rape and that sexual assault is NEVER the fault of the victim. No one deserves or wants to be raped.

Although there are no guarantees that someone is safe from sexual assault, there are some strategies, precautions, and communications styles that may reduce the risk of sexual assault or rape.
