Meet your 2009 Multisport Guides! These are the upperclassmen who will lead the PE Multisport trip in August!

Mel Kramer

Heyyy-yooo all you incoming freshman! My name is Mel Kramer and I am senior here at GW majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport and Event Management and a Psychology minor. I am a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, active intramural sports participant and member of some other SAC organizations here on campus. I spent the Fall 2008 semester studying abroad in Italy, traveled all over Europe, and had the greatest time of my life!!! This will be my fourth and final year participating in PE and I can't believe it is over already. I have met some of my best friends on PE and had a lot of firsts including white water rafting and jumping off a cliff! PE: Multi-Sport will seriously be one of your best experiences at GW so hop on board and take the ride of your life!!

Dave Stephen

Hi, my name is Dave and next year I am going to be a senior majoring in business administration with a concentration in hospitality management. On campus I am involved in greek life as well as the GW rock climbing club. I am spending this spring studying abroad in Spain and had the time of my life! This summer I am going home to Canton, Connecticut, where I will be interning for a construction and real estate firm. This will be the fourth year I am participating in Project Exploration and I can't wait to go back to West Virginia!

Kris Kotek

Some people describe me as a mystery wrapped in an enigma. I'll be a senior this fall after transferring to GW for my sophomore year. Originally from Minnesota, I love all things outdoor, have learned ancient secrets of mosquito repelling, and can navigate foreign cornfields with my eyes closed. I believe completely in living in the moment, unless it's very early in the morning, in which case I'd be sleeping in the moment. I also look somewhat like a llama.

Peter Weiss

Hello all! I’m Peter, a senior at gdubs studying political science and history. When I’m not in class or hitting the rapids with YOU, I can be found marching for some far-leftist cause, plotting to take over Republican seats in Congress, or interning at the Human Rights Campaign. Get it? Actually I’m not that nuts. I would prefer playing frisbee and eating Ben’s Chili Bowl over all else on a sunny weekend afternoon. Sign up for PE, you’ll meet some of your best friends, have fun and maybe try some new things, really…

Lee Barkalow

My name is Lee Alexander Barkalow and I grew up in Carmel, California. I spoke Spanish until I was 5 years old when I learned to speak English. My family and I really enjoy traveling so I have tried to reach all the corners of the world in my travels. I attended a public high school called Carmel High School where I was the President of my school and became very interested in GW because of politics. Currently I am majoring in Political Science and Medicine. I enjoy being a part of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, playing on the GW club tennis team, playing soccer, surfing and pretty much anything else that is outdoors and keeps me active.

Lizzie Speaker

Lizzie Speaker is a Sophomore from Milton, GA majoring in Theatre. She is thrilled to be going on PE again and can't wait to be on the trip!

Bill Hulse

Hey all! My name is Bill Hulse and I am a rising Sophomore. I am from Toledo, Ohio and cannot wait to return to DC this Fall. I am studying economics and political science. Outside of the classroom I stay very busy with my fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, and my job at the Law Library. I am excited to be on the trip again, and even more excited to meet all the new people.

 Drew Quinn

Hey! My name is Drew Quinn and I'm from Atlantic City, NJ. I'm a junior in the Columbian College although I have yet to choose a specific major. At home, I love playing tennis, soccer, watching indie films and going to the shore. On campus I am a brother of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, a tutor for DC Reads and a Peer Leadership Mentor in the Emerging Leaders Program. This summer I will be attending the Bonnaroo Music Festival, going on a road trip with friends to the Mid-West and Canada, working in Atlantic City and capping it off when we embark on the best PE trip ever!

Yan Slavinskiy

Hey Guys! I'm a sophomore in the Elliott School majoring in International Affairs and possibly Russian. I am extremely excited to meet all of you and can't wait to experience Project Exploration all over again! I am an active brother of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and am a student coordinator in the Student Activities Center. I spent this past spring break in New Orleans with the alternative spring breaks program and almost as cool was my realization that I can wiggle my ears. Project Exploration Multisport will allow you to try things you would never imagine and brings you in contact with 100 of the most amazing incoming freshman and 20 of the wackiest upperclassmen GW has to offer. I can't wait to see yall on the rapids!

Grace Warrick

Hey P.E. 2009! My name is Grace Warrick and I am a sophomore majoring in International Affairs and Asian Studies. I'm from sunny Orange County, California - but some of my best memories are from up north, camping, paddling and just having an incredible time outside! Starting my freshman year off with P.E. was one of the best decisions I've made at GW... fun, friends, and a significantly less awkward first week at school!! What more could you want? Join in and we'll see you in August :]

 Corrie Hanson

Hey everybody! My name is Cori and I'm a rising Junior at GWU. I'm a double major in Philosophy and International Affairs, living proof that you don't have to have any idea what you're doing in life to go to college! I'm from Connecticut, and am a huge fan of the outdoors, so sometimes this city can look a little grey, but the green is totally there if you only look! I love exploring DC (the National Gallery of Art is a favorite spot of mine), and campus life keeps me pretty busy. I'm in the community service fraternity alpha phi omega, and am a lady hippo for the GW women's ultimate frisbee team! I couldn't be more excited about GW, about showing new students what it's all about, and most importantly, GOING ON PE!!! I can't wait to see you all there!

Chelsea Millar

Hey y'all! I find it a bit of a challenge to fit my spunky personality on a short paragraph, but I'll give it a try. I'm a sophomore double majoring in International Affairs and Human Services. I am short, blonde, and 4' 10". I come from the coolest state aka Kansas, and I am sure to win you over with my midwestern charm. When I was a kid I used to go on dinosaur digs in my backyard, and even today I love being outside. I am absolutely OBSESSED with PE, and I hope you have the best time of your life on this trip just like I did.

Shannon Doyle

Hey, my name is Shannon Doyle and I want to welcome all of the incoming freshman to GW. I’m a sophomore in the Columbian School, but planning to major in Public Health. Here on campus, I’m involved with the volunteer organization Project Health, play club lacrosse, and recently went on the Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans. I will be spending the summer in Philadelphia interning at the Jefferson School of Health Policy. PE, especially the mud obstacle course, is one of my favorite freshman memories. It’s a great way to meet new people and start off your college experience!

Kelly Ryan

HIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! My name is Kelly Ryan and I am a rising sophomore in the Elliot School of International Affairs. I'm from East Longmeadow, MA and I love the outdoors! I love everything Italian, especially the food, and hope to go abroad to Italy in Spring '10. I can't wait for P.E. and all the fun we're going to have. I enjoy sleeping outside, being dirty, and just generally being grungy at all times. jk! Most of my best friends were in P.E. last year and I can't wait to make more friends this year :)

Kendra O'Connor

Hey hey!! Welcome to GWU, and to PE Multisport! My name is Kendra O’Connor, and I’m a rising sophomore in the Elliot School, with a major in International Affairs and a concentration in International Development.  On campus, I am a member in my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi and our wicked intramural sports teams, as well as a number of other organizations on campus, such as Students 4 Sustainability.  Originally from Newtown, CT, I love every bit of camping, especially bonfires, s’mores, and getting dirrrrty, so get ready for an amazing week with tons of new friends, fun games, and epic adventures!

Nisha Kapur

Hi everyone! My name is Nisha Kapur and I am a rising Junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Dance in the Columbian School of Arts and Sciences.
