The Joint Committee of Faculty and Students, in conjunction with the Senior Vice President for Student and Academic Support Services, is pleased to announce the 2009 Undergraduate Scholarships for Student Leadership Development. This award is designed to recognize undergraduate students who have the potential to demonstrate exceptional leadership based on their contributions to date, particularly to student organizations and campus activities.  Up to five scholarships will be awarded for the 2009-2010 year to undergraduate students who meet the criteria. The scholarships, of $3,000 each, are to be applied to University related costs, such as tuition, books, University housing, and food service.

Students, faculty, and staff of the University should encourage outstanding undergraduate students to apply for the scholarship. Student leaders in currently funded leadership positions are not eligible for this scholarship (please note that House Proctors, Scholars, and Mentors of GW Housing Programs are not considered funded leadership positions for the purposes of this scholarship). Candidates for the Undergraduate Scholarship for Student Leadership Development must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree granting program of the University, and should have at least two semesters remaining (which must include Fall 2009 and Spring 2010) to complete their undergraduate degrees.  Please note that previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for this year's award. (Note: For students who are recipients of financial aid, the Undergraduate Scholarship for Student Leadership Development will be considered as a resource in a student’s financial aid package.
