National Hunger and Homelessness
Awareness Week 2007

November 11th-17th
Featuring the GW Oxfam Hunger Banquet
with Special Guest President Steven Knapp
Key-Note Speaker Kim Perry, Vice-Chair of Mayor Fenty's Commission on Food and Nutrition Facilitator
Professor Howard Straker of GW's Physician Assistant Program

Join fellow students, staff, faculty, and community partners in this interactive simulation of domestic and global poverty.
This event is also part of President Knapp's Inaugural Week.

November 13 in the Marvin Center Grand Ballroom from 7-9pm.
Check-in begins at 6:30
Suggested entrance donation of two non-perishable food items

THE REST OF THE WEEK'S EVENTS INCLUDE:

Food Donation Drive - all week
Dormstorming will take place on November 12th from 8-10pm
Drop off donations to the Office of Community Service at 2129 G St. as well as in bins located around campus
Donations to benefit DC Central Kitchen, Capital Area Food Bank, and Foggy Bottom Food Pantry

Food for Though Poetry Slam with The Link
Join GW student writers and artists, poets from Miriam's Kitchen and journalists from Street Sense
in a spoken word event about homelessness and poverty.
Free fair trade coffee provided by Starbucks will be available
November 14th in the Mitchell Theater from 8-10pm

20th Annual Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon
Support local community partners seeking to end homelessness
Walk with a team or individually to help raise money for our community partner nonprofits!

November 17th: Pre-walk rally in University Yard at 7:30am with free snacks and coffee

Help the Homeless Walkathon
November 17th

The Washington, D.C., Help the Homeless Walkathon is scheduled for November 17, 2007, on the National Mall between 7th and 14th Streets NW.

Please remember our community partners when registering for the Walkathon!

GW Walkers will meet that morning at 7:30 AM on University Yard for coffee and doughnuts before heading to the National Mall.
