DC Reads Sites and Schedules

The DC Reads Program at OCS exists to maintain partnerships between tutoring programs and the University, manage all DC Reads tutor payroll, and serve as a resource to DC Reads tutors throughout their experience with this program. The DC Reads Program must receive a copy of your I-9 and EAF. You may not start working until you have been cleared by the DC Reads Office.

Site Info: The Saturday Institute is an intensive academic and social experience for students. Tutors will assist students in math, English and reading competency using the Reading to Succeed! Reading fundamentals curriculum. Students will increase phonics awareness
and build confidence. Tutoring for this site takes place on Saturdays from 8am-1pm.

Site Info: CentroNía has helped 500 children move from below average in reading to meeting or exceeding their grade level requirements. Students from 20 DCPS, and local area Charter Schools in grades K-6 receive one-on-one tutoring, using a highly structured reading and math
curriculum at a pace appropriate for that student. Tutoring for this site takes place Mon-Thurs 4-6pm, and Saturdays from 10am-12pm.

Site Info: A FLOC tutor establishes a one-on-one relationship with a child in Washington, DC, and works with that student in our proven, back-to-basics curriculum designed to improve reading and math skills. Training and support are available to you at all times along the way.

Site Info: Child Mentors will provide tutoring and additional support to TTP’s school-based parent engagement/ family literacy initiative, Community Nights. At these events, which take place in the evenings, they will welcome participating families and volunteers, mentor
elementary school children by reading with them and implementing literacy-based activities, and distribute snacks and books to them. Together with Turning the Page, they will help build community and empower families at struggling elementary schools. Tutoring
