2008 Leadership Symposium [RECAP]
Catalyst for Change: Breaking the Mold of Traditional Leadership
The George Washington University, Washington, DC
Friday, February 29th, 2008
11:00am-4:30pm
The George Washington University, Student Activities Center was proud to host the 3rd Annual Student Leadership Symposium “Catalyst for Change: Breaking the Mold of Traditional Leadership” on Friday, February 29, 2008--a capstone opportunity for student leaders.
The Mission of SLS '08:
Our goal was to prepare all students for leadership roles. We want students to understand that their position titles do not define them; rather they must challenge themselves to lead beyond their titles. Whether you are already a student leader or not you were shown how to be a leader in your own unique way. Different people provide leadership in different ways; SLS2008 focused on educating students on the different possibilities they have regarding leadership roles and styles.
Through organized workshops, students and staff were encouraged to think outside of the box and not be afraid to do more and be more than what their job description entails.
Symposium attendees:
- Learned how to identify their personal leadership style
- Were encouraged to employ “out of the box” thinking
- Learned that leadership is more than just a title!!!
Join us NEXT YEAR on Friday, February 27, 2009 for another great leadership opportunity for student leaders!!!
