Two-thirds of all STIs occur in people 25 years of age or younger

The best way to protect yourself from contracting an STI is to not have sex. However, if you chose to do so, follow the tips below to optimize your safety...

  1. Limit your partners
  2. Use a new latex condom each time you have intercourse
  3. Get checked for an STI by visting the Student Health Service or your local health care provider
  4. Know the signs and symptoms of STIs
  5. If you or your partner have an STI, you should both get tested and complete your treatment before having sex again
  6. Be open and honest with your partner
