Robin Williams to Headline Colonials Weekend
Williams, known for his improvisational skills and impersonations, has starred and voiced characters in numerous television shows and movies, including Aladdin, Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam, Mork & Mindy, and Mrs. Doubtfire.  Williams has won an Academy Award, six Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Grammy Award.  Robin Williams will bring his wit and humor to the Smith Center for two performances as the headlining act for Colonials Weekend.  Please click

Dolores Stafford, Chief, University Police Department (UPD)
GW Police Department has joined forces with Safeplace USA to provide electronic room safes for students to purchase or rent to secure their valuables. If a student purchases or rents a safe through this program, Safeplace USA will install (bolt) the safe in the closet of their place of residence (see the purchase or rental agreement for details) soon after it is purchased or rented, at the convenience of the student.

Colonial Central

Colonial Central is the Financial and Registration One Stop Solution Center for GW Parents and Students.  Experienced Colonial Central staff are available to assist you in-person and by telephone or e-mail.  You may also access our services online anytime.

University Counseling Center (UCC)
The UCC offers a broad range of services to help your student with academic and personal issues as they return to GW.  Services include short-term individual therapy, crisis services, academic skills assistance, and career counseling.  The UCC also offers telephone consultation if you are concerned about your student, referral information for mental health needs, and educational presentations on topics relevant to student life.

Rape Aggression Defense Class (R.A.D.) Sponsored by UPD
Rape Aggression Defense classes are currently forming for the fall semester.  Female students/ faculty/staff are invited to participate in this beneficial program which is designed to teach basic self defense skills to women.  The skills taught take advantage of a woman’s increased lower body strength and are a compilation of techniques taken from various disciplines.  The class is a total of twelve hours in duration, meeting once per week. Elective Tuition Refund Insurance Plan
An elective tuition refund insurance plan is available through the Student Accounts Office.  The Tuition Refund Plan is administered and underwritten by A.W.G Dewar, Inc., 4 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA  02169.  You may call A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. at (617) 774-1555 for more information or contact them via email at trp@dewarinsurance.com.  To participate, you must complete an application and payment of premium prior to the opening date of the semester.  Information about the plan, brochures, and application mailers are sent to all students from the Student Accounts Office each summer.

Insure Your Students' Property
If a students’ personal property is stolen or damaged in their residence hall room, it can cost the student a lot of money, time and frustration to replace.  With this in mind, the University recommends that students insure their personal property.  [Read the full article]
 
Health and Safety Inspections
The University conducts periodic Health & Safety Inspections in all residence hall rooms. These unannounced inspections are meant to help ensure the well being of all residents and the safety of the community. [Read the full article]
