If you can knit or purl…if you could write a dissertation on the fiber quality The Orphan Foundation of America (OFA) is launching its annual Red Scarf Project. Knit warmth and encouragement to OFA needs 7,000 handmade scarves for their Winter Care Packages to foster/orphaned students attending college. Your scarf will send the message that someone cares—and what better community to support foster college students than a University community of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The GW Red Scarf Project has set a goal to have 500 hand-knit scarves finished by October 15, 2007. Crochet-ers welcome, too! The 2007 GW Red Scarf Project set a goal of 250 scarves for its first year, and largely from the help of PARENTS surpassed this goal, collecting 385 scarves from 133 knitters in 27 states! Join us for the second GW Red Scarf Project and help us to meet our goal again.
