Welcomes Parents and Families of the Class of 2011
It was a pleasure to meet many of you during this summer’s Colonial Inauguration sessions. If you joined us, I hope that you found Colonial Inauguration to be an exciting and valuable opportunity to become better acquainted with GW as your students prepared to begin their undergraduate experience on campus this fall. For me, as the Dean of Freshmen, Colonial Inauguration represented a very exciting opportunity to get to know you and your students – relationships that I hope will continue to grow even stronger during the course of the coming academic year.
As you may recall from my remarks during Colonial Inauguration, my family and I live on GW’s Mount Vernon Campus. This enhances my ability to get to know students from both campuses personally and to interact with them during GW’s diverse academic and co-curricular offerings, whether these experiences are lectures, athletic events, visits to the residential houses, or even dinners in my home. Please know that I welcome students to introduce themselves to me during these events as well as during visits to my office, which is located in the Webb Building on the Mount Vernon Campus. I also encourage you and your students to use me and my office as a resource for guidance on the many experiences that are an integral part of the freshman year.
Having also had the opportunity to welcome you and your students back to campus on move-in day, I now hope to see you at Colonials Weekend, a celebration for GW families, students, and friends, on October 12 through 14, with its multi-faceted offerings, including the Parents’ Association Annual Meeting, headliner entertainment by Billy Crystal, the ever-popular Octoberfest on the Mount Vernon Campus, and the Freshman Families Reception that my family and I will host in our home, the Mount Vernon Alumnae House, on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm. In the meantime, if I can be of any assistance to you or your students, please do not hesitate to contact me at fsiegel@gwu.edu or (202) 242-6609.
Sincerely,
Fred Siegel
Associate Vice President and Dean of Freshmen
