On behalf of The George Washington University and the Office of Parent Services, I am pleased to welcome you to Washington, D.C. and the GW family.  The past few years have been quite exciting for GW as it has expanded on both the Foggy Bottom and the Mount Vernon Campuses.  The goal of the Office of Parent Services is to help you and your student have a meaningful and positive transitional and educational experience.  The Colonial Parents’ Connection Online Newsletter reinforces this commitment as it establishes and opens a line of communication and allows for dialogue between you, the GW parent and the University.

For some of you, sending your student off to college is a first-time experience, while others of you are veterans and understand the process very well.  Regardless of whether you are a first-timer or an experienced veteran, this is an exciting time for you, your student and your entire family.  This is the time for you as a parent of a young Colonial to lend guidance and support to your student making a potentially difficult transition into University life a little easier.  Be proud of your student and of their accomplishments, they have earned and deserve it.

We encourage you as the parent, to contact the Office of Parent Services if you need assistance or advice in any matter pertaining to your student.  If you have any questions or comments and do not know who to contact, the Office of Parent Services is available to assist.  If we are unable to answer your questions, we will find someone who is able to do so.

I look forward to hearing from and visiting with you during Colonials Weekend 2007, which will be October 12- October 14.  I hope to see you all there!
