Billy Crystal to Headline Colonials Weekend
Known for his uncanny impersonations and cross generational humor, Crystal has charmed audiences worldwide for several decades. The Long Beach, N.Y., native has starred in such memorable movies as Monsters, Inc., The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, and Analyze This. An "observational" comedian, Crystal will bring his wit and humor in everyday occurrences to the Smith Center for two performances as the headlining act for Colonials Weekend. Colonial Central
The George Washington University has opened the first phase of a new student services center in the Marvin Center, "Colonial Central." Colonial Central initially will house staff from Student Accounts, the Cashier's Office, and the Office of Student Financial Assistance as well as self-service aspects of the GWorld card program. University Counseling Center (UCC)
The UCC offers a broad range of services to help your student with academic and personal issues as they pursue their degrees at GW. Services include short-term individual therapy, group therapy, crisis services, academic skills assistance, and career counseling. The UCC also offers telephone consultations if you are concerned about your student, referral information for mental health needs, and educational presentations on topics relevant to student life for the campus community at large (students, faculty, staff, parents, departments, and organizations). Rape Aggression Defense Class (R.A.D.) Sponsored by UPD
Rape Aggression Defense classes are currently forming for the fall semester. Female students/ faculty/staff are invited to participate in this beneficial program which is designed to teach basic self defense skills to women. The skills taught take advantage of a woman’s increased lower body strength and are a compilation of techniques taken from various disciplines. The class is a total of twelve hours in duration, meeting once per week. Typically two to three sections are offered per semester. Instruction is free for all university affiliates. Elective Tuition Refund Insurance Plan
An elective tuition refund insurance plan is available through the Student Accounts Office. The Tuition Refund Plan is administered and underwritten by A.W.G Dewar, Inc., 4 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02169. You may call A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. at (617) 774-1555 for more information or contact them via email at trp@dewarinsurance.com. To participate, you must complete an application and payment of premium prior to the opening date of the semester. Information about the plan, brochures, and application mailers are sent to all students from the Student Accounts Office each summer.
Insure Your Students' Property
If a students’ personal property is stolen or damaged in their residence hall room, it can cost the student a lot of money, time and frustration to replace. With this in mind, the University recommends that students insure their personal property. [Read the full article]
Health and Safety Inspections
The University conducts periodic Health & Safety Inspections in all residence hall rooms. These unannounced inspections are meant to help ensure the well being of all residents and the safety of the community. [Read the full article]
