The Office of Parent Services (OPS) and the GW Parents' Association (PA) participates in a number of events involving the George Washington (GW) University Community. Our main activities include Spring Visits, Colonial Inauguration, and coordinating GW's Colonials Weekend (Family Weekend).
Colonial Inauguration: GW welcomes its new students with this 2 1/2 day freshman orientation experience, divided into 5 separate sessions throughout the summer. The Colonial Cabinet heads up each day's events for parents, students, and siblings! The Office of Parent Services and the Parents' Association are present each day introducing the both organizations to new parents and students. We have information tables set up on Day One, on Day Two we hold an OPS/PA Information Session ,on Day Three we have a Parent-to-Parent Panel and are available at brunch to answer any last minute questions parents may have. Throughout the 2 1/2 day event we accept active membership for new and returning members of the PA. Spring Visit: GW hosts an event where accepted students (who have not yet decided to come to GW) can come and visit the campus to get a feel for life at GW. The Office of Parent Services (OPS) and the Parents' Association (PA) are always there to assist the parents, as well as students, with any questions they may have. Colonials Weekend: Colonials Weekend is a 2 1/2 day event, which brings students, alumni, families and friends to GW. This weekend offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to visit the campus, the city and their student as they settle into their home away from home.During Colonials Weekend you will also have the chance to see shows, participate in many activities on campus and listen to lectures. We encourage all new and returning parents to join us for this most exciting and entertaining weekend.
