The University Hearing Board provides prompt, fair decisions in high-level, non-academic disciplinary cases that could result in the cancellation of a student's Housing License Agreement, suspension, or expulsion from the University. Each UHB consists of as many as five student members and one faculty or staff member. The minimum number of UHB members needed to hear a case is three students.
Students who are interested in serving as a member of the University Hearing Board are encouraged to contact the Office of Student Judicial Services for information regarding application due dates. The UHB recruitment typically occurs during the spring semester, but new members may be added to the Board throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. Applications are normally submitted through the SJS website. Student UHB members are not paid employees of the Office of Student Judicial Services.
Student Judicial Services also provides publications that explain the judicial process and some common violations. Please see the GW Student Conduct Policies page for more information about the “Code of Student Conduct” and other University policies. Please see the SJS Publications and Forms page for informational flyers and SJS forms.
A student who does not appear for a scheduled UHB hearing may have his or her case heard in his or her absence. For more information regarding this provision and other University Hearing Board procedures, please see Article 26 of the "Code of Student Conduct".
