Gelman Library holds more than 2,000,000 volumes, and is the flagship library at The George Washington University. Because GW is a private institution, Gelman Library is closed to the public to allow its staff to focus the library's resources on its primary users: the students, faculty, and staff of The George Washington University. The library access and borrowing privileges are limited to those affiliated with the University and certain neighborhood groups. Please refer to Gelman Library's Entrance Policy for a more detailed listing of the library's regulations.
