The George Washington University is committed to promoting a safe and healthy living and learning environment for all members of the GW community. Additionally, the University is required by federal law to enforce compliance with District of Columbia alcoholic beverage laws on campus and at University-sponsored activities.

The Alcoholic Beverage Consumption and Distribution Policy governs the use of alcohol on campus and at University sponsored events, which according to the "Code of Student Conduct," includes events sponsored by individual students, groups of students, and registered student organizations. Please note that the ABCD Policy applies to all persons at the University, and it includes provisions requiring the registration of all events at which alcohol will be served. For additional information regarding the ABCD Policy or should you have questions regarding its provisions, please contact the Center for Alcohol and other Drug Education at (202) 994-2599 or via e-mail at cade@gwu.edu.

Students charged with an alcohol violation should refer to the "Code of Student Conduct" for the most accurate information regarding disciplinary cases, including those involving alcohol.
