DC Reads

is HIRING Tutors for 2009-2010!

"Become a DC Reads Tutor"


DC Reads tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with children in grades K-6. Tutors teach students reading, math and other skills in local elementary schools during the school day or with after-school programs in DC. Tutors make a positive difference in the lives of children by improving their academic skills and serving as positive role models.


DC Reads Tutor Requirements:

Must be federal work study eligible or willing to volunteer

Minimum one semester commitment (academic year preferred)

Must commit a minimum of 3 hours/week

Passion and enthusiasm for children and education


Benefits:

$13/hour (note: only for work-study students)

Flexible, off-campus hours

All sites are walking, metro, and/or bus accessible


DC Reads at GWU 2009-10:

300 tutors Worked with 8 community partners at 22 DC Public Schools and served nearly 1000 students:
