Service Oriented Federal Work Study Jobs
The Office of Community Service has two Federal Work Study service jobs available for the 2009-2010 school year. Students who work for either of these programs earn $12/hour - $13/hour.
DC Reads is a tutoring program in which college students work one-on-one or in small groups with Kindergarten through 6th grade students and assist at after-school programs. Tutors help children learn to read, help improve their academic skills, and also serve as positive role models.
Jumpstart
is an Americorps program that pairs college students in one-on-one
relationships with preschoolers (3-5 year olds) from low income
communities. Through twice weekly Jumpstart sessions, college students
implement lesson plans that focus on the development of language,
literacy, and social skills through play-based learning.
