FILMS ON THE VERN Going for the Gold
In celebration of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, join us as we showcase the world of sports and the spirit of competition at the 5th Annual "Films on The Vern"! Bring a blanket and snacks, and enjoy a FREE outdoor movie!
Movies will be shown every Wednesday night from July 16 through August 20, 2008 at 8:30pm on the Mount Vernon Campus Quad, with the exception of the last film on August 20th, which will be shown at the Outdoor Pool at Mount Vernon. (Rain location: Eckles Library Auditorium)
GW's Mount Vernon Campus is located at 2100 Foxhall Road, NW, Washington, DC, 20007.

July 16 Cars (2006) Voices by: Paul Newman, Richard Petty, Bonnie Hunt, Owen Wilson Rated G; 96 minutes In the seventh animated feature from Pixar Animation Studios, this high octane adventure follows Lightning McQueen a hot shot stock car heading to the big race. He gets bogged down in Radiator Springs and learns about true friendship during his stay there in this high speed road trip.

July 23 Miracle (2004) Kurt Russell, Patricia Clarkson, Noah Emmerich, Eddie Cahill Rated PG; 130 minutes Walt Disney Pictures now brings to the screen the amazing story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, which stunned the heavily favored Soviet squad in the semifinals to advance to the championship game, inspiring the famous questions: “Do you believe in miracles?” Kurt Russell stars as Herb Brooks, the team’s coach.

As the nation entered the Great Depression, he took a series of jobs to feed his family until a chance cancellation gave him the opportunity to fight again. After his amazing and unlikely win, he was dubbed the “Cinderella Man” and went on to become the heavyweight boxing champ, elevating his own game but also representing the dreams of the disenfranchised masses.

The Vern Express, the free shuttle service connecting the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, will offer departures from each campus every 30 minutes until Midnight - at the top of the hour and 30 minutes past the hour from 23rd and H Streets (Fulbright Hall) on the Foggy Bottom Campus and at 15 minutes and 45 minutes past the hour from The Quad on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Complimentary parking will also be available in the Mount Vernon Campus Garage upon entering from Whitehaven Parkway.
