Driving Directions
Approaching the Mount Vernon Campus from the North (Maryland)
-
Follow I-495 (Capital Beltway) to the Connecticut Avenue NW / MD-185 exit. (Whether this is 495-W or 495-E will depend upon from which direction you’re coming.)

A map of the route to MVC from the north, beginning at the Connecticut Ave NW / MD-185 exit from I-495, can be found here.

Take Connecticut Ave NW / MD-185 south.

Pass through Chevy Chase Circle, continuing to follow Connecticut Ave NW / MD-185 south.

Turn right on Nebraska Avenue NW, following it south.

Pass through Tenley Circle, continuing to follow Nebraska Ave NW south.

Pass through Ward Circle, continuing to follow Nebraska Ave NW south.

Take a left at Foxhall Road NW, following it south. (This will be a three-way intersection. If you’re on Nebraska Avenue and come to Chain Bridge Road, Indian Lane, University Terrace, or Arizona Avenue, you’ve gone too far.)

Follow Foxhall Road NW south to W Street NW.

Turn right on W Street NW, following it west.

After just a few moments, you’ll see the entrance to campus on your left side. Park in the Visitors Parking Lot here.
Approaching the Mount Vernon Campus from the South (Virginia)

Follow I-495 (Capital Beltway) to either I-66-E or I-395-N

If taking I-66-E:
- Follow I-66-E to exit 73. Exit onto US-29-N.
- Turn left at N Lynn Street (still US-29-N).
- N Lynn Street will turn into the Key Bridge.

If taking I-395-N:
- Follow I-395-N to exit 8B. Exit onto Washington Boulevard / VA-27.
- Follow VA-27 north
- Take the exit for Jefferson Davis Highway / VA-110. Follow VA-110 north.
- Take the exit for I-66-W. Follow I-66-W to exit 73. Exit onto US-29-N.
- Turn right at N Lynn Street (still US-29-N).
- N Lynn Street will turn into the Key Bridge.

Follow the Key Bridge north.

Take a left on M Street NW, following it west.

M Street NW turns into Canal Road NW. Continue to follow Canal Road NW.

Bear right at the first intersection, onto Foxhall Road NW. Follow Foxhall Road NW north.

Take a left at W Street NW, following it west.

After just a few moments, you’ll see the entrance to campus on your left side. Park in the Visitors Parking Lot here.
Approaching the Mount Vernon Campus from Within Washington, DC (from the Foggy Bottom Campus)

Take either M Street NW or the Whitehurst Freeway NW to the west.
- If taking the Whitehurst Fwy, turn left at its termination, onto M Street.

Follow M Street west.

M Street NW turns into Canal Road NW. Continue to follow Canal Road NW.

Bear right at the first intersection, onto Foxhall Road NW. Follow Foxhall Road NW north.

Take a left at W Street NW, following it west.

After just a few moments, you’ll see the entrance to campus on your left side. Park in the Visitors Parking Lot here.
Parking on Campus
For those who wish to drive to the Mount Vernon Campus, note that ALL parking MUST occur within the campus boundaries in either the Parking Garage inside the Whitehaven Parkway entrance or the Visitors Lot inside the W Street entrance.
The Visitors Lot inside the W Street entrance has meters that are monitored between 7am and 7pm on weekdays. The Parking Garage inside the Whitehaven Parkway entrance is attended between 7am and 10pm on weekdays. (Please note that this information is subject to change without notice). For additional information about parking at the Mount Vernon Campus visit Parking Services or call 202-994-PARK.
Note: Parking by visitors to the Mount Vernon Campus is not allowed on the streets adjacent to the campus; those who do so are subject to fines, towing, and/or University enforcement action.
Bus Transportation
The Vern Express
For information on The Vern Express, the free shuttle service connecting the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, visit The Vern Express website or call 202-242-6673.
Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
The Mount Vernon Campus is accessible by Metrobus, along the D6 bus line. Complete information for WMATA services can be found at www.wmata.com.
