As part of The George Washington University's commitment to educating students on the importance of respecting copyright law, GW has become an authorized distributor of the popular iTunes software that is compatible with Apple iPods.

iTunes can be used by both PC and Mac users and syncs directly with Apple iPods or iPod minis.

iTunes: The best digital jukebox with the #1 music store inside.

iTunes has become a smash hit with music fans, professional musicians and the entire music industry.  The first to offer 99¢ a-la-carte downloads, iTunes enables Mac and Windows customers to download music legally, satisfying customers and the music industry alike.   iTunes is  #1 in market share for online music downloads and has sold over 100  million songs - a number that continues to grow daily.  iTunes offers
the following advantages:

Fully-featured digital jukebox - Along with being the leading music store, iTunes is also a fully-featured jukebox.  You can import CDs into MP3 or AAC format, create playlists, and burn CDs at full speed at  no additional cost.

iPod - iTunes is the only music store that supports the top-selling portable digital music player, the iPod.  Seamlessly transfer anything from iTunes onto your iPod.

Largest Digital Music Catalog - With over 1 million songs in the store, from all five major record labels and more than 600 independent labels, iTunes has the largest digital music catalog of any of the legal services.  With weekly updates and exclusives, new music is always available.  There are also a number of exclusives from artists like Alanis Morissette, Sting, Incubus, Beastie Boys, Moby, Alicia Keys, and more.  You can listen to 30-second previews of any song for free.

Own it forever - People want to own music, not rent it.  Once you pay your 99¢ per song, you can burn it to CD as many times as you want, transfer it to 5 computers, and sync it with iPods.  You don't lose your music after you stop paying a subscription fee.

Free Single of the Week - Every Tuesday, when new music is added to the ever-growing selection, you can download a free Single of the Week from the latest up-and-coming band.  They're only available for one week, so check back often to collect all of them.

Music discovery - Find new favorites by perusing iTunes Essentials like One Hit Wonders or Cover Songs, checking out Billboard charts back to 1946, seeing what your favorite radio station is playing with radio charts, viewing music videos, and more.

Audiobooks - iTunes is the only music store that also carries audiobooks.  Choose from over 5,000 titles including best-sellers, classics, and radio programs.  Catch up on your reading as you walk across campus.

Music sharing - Listen to other students' collections on your local network.  iTunes looks for other iTunes users on your network who are sharing their music - Mac or PC - and as if by magic, their music just shows up in your copy of iTunes.  You can listen to full songs as long as they're connected, and it works just as well on wireless networks.
