NOTE: Incoming Freshman must access the placement tests through the First Class site in Blackboard.
Transfer and other non-incoming students must sign up for the Latin placement test below. When your account is ready, we will get back to you by e-mail.
INFORMATION ON LATIN PLACEMENT
After you have completed this exam, Blackboard will score it for you. On the basis of your score, you will be able to determine your Latin Placement level by comparing your score to this scale:
1-46 correct answers: Latin 001 (Beginning Latin)
47-89 correct answers: Latin 003 (Intermediate Latin)
90-103 correct answers: Latin 103 (fall) or Latin 104 (spring) Major Latin Authors
Important note: Please remember that language placement is an art, not a science! After classes begin, you or your teacher may see the necessity for you to move into a different class level. The Department reserves the right to help you do this. If you have any questions regarding placement in Latin, contact the Classics Coordinator at eaf@gwu.edu
