German Placement Test
Who needs to take the German placement exam?
If you have studied/spoken German, but you have not taken a language class at GW, the placement test is required! DO NOT place yourself in a foreign language class without taking the exam. This also applies to students who took the AP Test. You will not be permitted to stay in a class without proof of placement.
Directions for Online GERMAN Placement Exam:
1. Go to http://webcape.byuhtrsc.org?acct=geowu
2. Enter the Password in the window. The Password is: colonials1 (all lower case)
3. Click “Login” and you will be given access to the GW Webcape site. Select German from the pull-down menu and click “Begin”.
4. The next screen is a student survey. Please fill it out, including your student ID and e-mail address. Once you've submitted the profile, you'll be given access to the exam.
5. If, in answering questions during the test, the screen does not advance immediately to the next question, just resubmit your answer. The next question should appear. This can happen (infrequently) if the system is busy.
6. Click submit after answering the last question to complete the exam.
7. PRINT or WRITE DOWN your results after completing the exam! You must register for the level in which you were placed, or you will be asked to leave the class.
