Newly Admitted Students!
Welcome to The George Washington University!
We are excited that you have chosen to join us here at GW for your studies. As a new student you are likely to have many questions before you even arrive on campus.
We hope that this website can help to answer most of your general questions. However, if you don't see an answer to your question here then please feel free to contact us or visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
A Message for Our Newly Admitted Students Waiting for I-20s
Congratulations on being admitted to GW. We are anxiously waiting to meet all of you!
If you are waiting for your I-20, please know that we are working on it as quickly as possible. The ISO starts processing I-20s once we receive a complete application from your admitting school or department.
This is an extremely busy time for the ISO and we attempt to return a complete application with I-20 to the school or department as quickly as possible. An incomplete application will cause delays in this process. Please verify with your department that you have submitted all necessary documentation. We have a large number of international students who are all waiting on their documents to be processed. Therefore, to ensure that we are fair to all of our waiting students, we process I-20s in the order they are received.
Once your department or school receives the new I-20, it will be mailed to you as soon as possible. Please refrain from making your visa interview appointments at the U.S. embassy or consulate until you are informed that your I-20 is on its way. You will have to reschedule if you do not receive the I-20 by your appointment date.
If you have further questions or a special situation, please refer your questions to your school or department’s admissions contact.

You can find the International Services Office located a few blocks from the main GW campus on 2033 K Street, NW, Suite 310. *Please note that the actual entrance to our building is located on 21st Street.*
