

Fall Hayride
Celebrate fall and come out for a night in the country with Program Board! On Saturday Nov. 7th, we are taking buses to Butler's Orchard in Germantown, MD and taking a hayride just after sunset. Then hang around for a bonfire with s'mores, pumpkins, and cider. The buses leave from the Marvin Center H St. Terrace at 5:30pm and we will be back on campus by 10pm. Tickets are $8 and availanle now in the PB office, on a first-come first-serve basis.

Foggy Bottom Clean Up
Wake Up, Shower. Help the Community!
Join students and staff, Novemeber 8th at 10am in Kogan Plaza to clean up and beautify the neighborhood.
Last year over 100 people participated. Bring your friends, coworkers, and student groups.
Pizza will be provided following the clean up for volunteers!

Making Strides for St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Making Strides for St. Jude Children’s Hospital is a walk around campus to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer! There will be free food, live music, and a family from St. Jude Children's Hospital to share their touching story about their fight against cancer. The organization that has the most participants attending the walk (and/ or raises the most money) will receive a prize! Check-in begins at 11:30am and the walk begins at noon.

Film showing, 'When the Wall Came Tumbling Down: 50 Hours that Changed the World'
This compelling documentary shows what really happened during those perilous, pivotal hours. General Secretary Gorbachev and President Bush, the French and the British governments, Chancellor Kohl and General Secretary Krenz, foreign secretaries, ministers and high-ranking officers from both sides (some speaking out for the first time), along with journalists such as NBC News Correspondent Tom Brokaw, describe first-hand what occurred behind the scenes.

The People Speak LIVE!
THE PEOPLE SPEAK LIVE comes to GW on Monday, November 9, at 7 PM in the Jack Morton Auditorium (805 21st St., NW). Tickets are FREE! Professor Frank Sesno and the School of Media and Public Affairs host musician LUPE FIASCO and producer CHRIS MOORE (Project Greenlight, Good Will Hunting, American Pie) for live performance, audience discussion and sneak peek preview clips from THE PEOPLE SPEAK film.
THE PEOPLE SPEAK film, airing on HISTORY December 13 at 8 PM, uses dramatic and musical performances of the letters, diaries and speeches of everyday Americans who spoke up for social change throughout U.S. history. Featured artists in the film include Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, Rosario Dawson, Bob Dylan, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, Marisa Tomei, and Kerry Washington.

Microfinance Simulcast Class
GW has the unprecedented opportunity to feed into a simulcast coming from University of California: Berkeley of a microfinance class! The class explores why and how microfinance operations have grown to provide financial services to poor and low-income communities on a sustainable basis. Professor Sean Foote provides an excellent introduction to the field of Microfinance and brings together advice and best practices from a variety of successful practitioners around the world, creating a forum to learn about current challenges, debates, and innovations. The class is participatory, as students are able to message questions to the Professor Foote, which he answers during the class.
The class will be showing every Monday from 7-9PM in Monroe 450. From November 9- December 7. It is co-organized by Students 4 Sustainability and Students for Effective Foreign Assistance.
