Thurston Hall Move-in Instructions

Hall Specific Move-in Directions:

Please note that many of the streets in Foggy Bottom are one way so your strict adherence to the direction will be important.

From 23^rd Street, NW proceed north. Turn East onto Virgina Ave. then turn North onto 20^th Street. Continue north to H St and turn east onto H St. Finally turn south onto 19th. Street. Move-In volunteers will assist you in parking on 19th street.

Only approved students may check-in prior to September 2, 2006.

Obtaining Your Keys

Checking-in Prior to September 2, 2006:

All students checking into Thurston Hall will pick up their keys at the Thurston Hall Key Depot.  These students should park their vehicles in one of the campus parking garages and proceed by foot to Thurston Hall to obtain keys.

Checking-in on September 2, 2006: 

All students checking into Thurston Hall will pick up their keys in Thurston. These students should temporarily park their vehicles in front of Thurston Hall and check-in while a family member or friend unloads their vehicle.

Checking-in on September 3 and 4, 2006:

All students checking into Thurston Hall will pick up their keys in Thurston Hall.  These students should park their vehicles in one of the campus parking garages and proceed by foot to Thurston Hall to obtain keys.

Checking-in from September 5, 2006 and later:

All students checking into Thurston Hall will pick up their keys at the Thurston Hall Key Depot. These students should park their vehicles in one of the campus parking garages and proceed by foot to Thurston Hall to obtain keys.

Staggered Move-In Times For September 2^nd

 If you live on:                                       You may begin moving in at:
Floors 1,2, and 8, 9                                8:00 a.m
Floors 3, 4 and 5                                     11:00 a.m.
Floors 6 and 7                                          2:00 p.m.

Move-in Tips

#1: Make it a team effort - the move-in process works best when two other   family members or friends can help the GW student move-in: one person to park the car and one person to watch the belongings while the student checks-in.

#2: Never leave belongings unattended.

#3: Label all packages and bags with your name, building and room number.

#4: Obey all DC parking and traffic signs to avoid getting a ticket.

#5: Bring a hand truck (if you have one) to help your move-in (plastic bins or carts will also be available on a first come, first served basis from the hall office).
