Group Fitness Instructor
General Job Description In this year round position instructors have the opportunity to teach a variety of classes. The position's responsibilities include instructing safe and effective exercise classes to promote health and fitness to The George Washington University students, faculty and staff. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Wellness and Fitness Programming.
Qualifications
- Completion of Aerobics Instructor training course EXSA 067 (required for student instructors).
- Adult CPR certified AND certified through a nationally recognized association (AFAA, ACE, AAAI, etc.)
- Past teaching experience is a must
- Ability to instruct high energy classes with motivation and enthusiasm
- Excellent teaching and communication skills
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people at different exercise levels
Responsibilities
- Attend all Group Fitness Instructor meetings
- Plan, organize, and instruct safe and effective exercise classes for the campus
- Follow class procedures as stated in the Group Fitness Instructor Handbook
- Keep CPR and other certifications current
- Attend periodic training sessions to update knowledge of aerobics
- Maintain aerobics room equipment and notify facilities if the equipment needs to be repaired or replaced
