Established in 1997, the GW Men's Lacrosse Team competes at the
highest level in the National College Lacrosse league. The NCLL is
comprised of 8 conferences and over 90 teams spread across the central
and eastern United States. The Men’s Lacrosse Team has elevated its
level of play on a yearly basis and remains one of the University's most
competitive club sports. The team reached the NCLL Elite 8 in 2010 and
2011. In 2012, the program achieved its goal of making it to the NCLL
National Championship and recorded a regular season record of 10 wins
and just 3 losses. Because of its success, the team is viewed as an
“elite club” program at GW.
Tryouts are held in September. The team practices 3 times per week in
both the fall and spring under the guidance of Head Coach, Joe Opron.
The fall season consists of at least 1 tournament and 5-6 games while
the spring season consists of 1 tournament and around 12 regular season
games. All practices and home games are take place at the Mount Vernon
Varsity Lacrosse/Soccer Field.

The GW Women's Lacrosse Club was established in 1998 with the intentions of being elevated to varsity status (which they were in 2001). The club continues to exist for those women who love playing lacrosse who either: do not want to play at the varsity level due to concerns about too much practice time or, they aren't good enough to play at the intercollegiate level. The club plays against other university club teams during a very busy spring semester.
