Kendo
Perry D'AmelioKendo is a form of Japanese fencing. Translated literally, kendo means "the Way of the Sword". It is the national sport of Japan and is gaining in popularity world wide. In kendo, 2 players face off against each other wearing armor and attacking with bamboo swords called Shinais. There are 4 targets on a player's body that must be hit with near-perfect form and accuracy in order for a point to be won. It is a very disciplined sport that challenges both the mind and the body. The goal of the Kendo Club at the George Washington University is to introduce the sport of kendo to the GW community and help teach new players and train veteran players. No prior experience is necessary, the club always welcomes new interested members.
