Officially registered sport clubs may use the name of The George Washington University in their organizational title. When using the University's name, sport clubs speak only for their sport club and by no means officially represent The George Washington University Athletic Department. However, all additional eligibility requirements must be approved by the Campus Recreation Director. Membership and participation within a sport club must be free from discrimination based on race, sex, religion, ethnic group or national origin. Each club constitution must contain this statement. Club membership will be open to all G.W. students, faculty and staff members. Each sport club will have at least one designated representative, usually a president, who will attend all sport club meetings. If that individual cannot attend a meeting, the individual must notify the Office of Campus Recreation and arrange to send an alternate. Representatives will be expected to attend all club functions and will be considered the liaison between their club and the Office of Campus Recreation. Club Advisors must submit a letter to the Office of Campus Recreation stating their commitment to the club. Their address and phone number must be on file in the Office of Campus Recreation.
