THE ROLE OF THE OFFICE OF CAMPUS RECREATION

The Office of Campus Recreation, under the guidance of the Director, monitors and oversees the operation of all sport clubs. The Office of Campus Recreation will provide assistance to all sport clubs which request help. Some of the responsibilities and services which the Office of Campus Recreation provides to sport clubs include:

1. Assisting the sport club officers in budget preparation, game scheduling, equipment procurement, fund raising efforts and completion of records.

2. Monitoring and certifying membership eligibility.

3. Conducting orientation workshops for sport club officers.

4. Receiving all equipment and supplies purchased by a sport club and storage of this equipment during the summer.

5. Rendering decisions on disciplinary sanctions in conjunction with the Sport Club Council.

6. Assuring that each sport club has current safety regulations and that they are being implemented. The Office of Campus Recreation must receive notification on all injuries which occur to their members during any sport club practice or game.

7. Advising clubs of decisions of Sport Club Council concerning appropriate issues.

8. Monitoring all sport club travel itineraries.

9. A sport club officer may be removed from a post by the Campus Recreation Director if dissension or improprieties have been found to exist within the club.

10. Assist all sport clubs in securing facility space in the Lerner Health & Wellness Center, Smith Center, Lloyd Gym or the athletic fields on the MVC campus in order to fulfill their recreational and organizational needs. Clubs which practice and play indoors must submit facility requests to the Office of Campus Recreation. Requests for the fall semester should be submitted by May 1st. Requests for spring semester must be submitted by December 2nd.

11. Assist all sport clubs which practice outdoors, or in facilities outside of the Smith Center, in obtaining space in which to practice or compete. Obtaining space from an off-campus agency can be difficult so requests should be submitted as early as possible.

12. Assist new sport clubs in the early stages of development.

13. Assist any club in designing fliers and approve any publicity (fliers, posters, brochures) before distribution and posting.
