Class Registration

You'll learn all you need to know about General Curriculum Requirements, Major Requirements, and more as you complete GW First Class in Blackboard, a virtual classroom management system.

GW First Class
is a preregistration program designed to guide you through choosing courses and show you how to register for classes on the day you selected. You must complete GW First Class before your CI session. If you need to review the process of logging into Blackboard or would like to learn more about GW First Class please visit the GW First Class section of this site. If you need additional help with GW First Class, contact the call center at (202) 994-1200. The GW First Class Support Center is open June 1-12, Monday-Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm (EST), and from July 6-14 from 9:00am to 9:00pm (EST).

At Colonial Inauguration, you will meet with an advisor who will review your course preferences and begin a discussion about your academic plans for your four years at GW. You will learn more about experiential learning opportunities, internships, and undergraduate research. You will also meet with Colonial Cabinet members (current GW students) who can talk to you about registration, classes, academic requirements, and other ways to enhance your classroom learning experiences at GW.

On your CI registration form, you will select a date to register for your first semester courses. Courses will be made available based on the number of students signed up for each date so, there is no benefit in choosing the earliest registration date. Choose the one that best fits your schedule as that is the ONLY date you will be allowed to register/change your course selection until the general scheduled add/drop session begins, and your course selection, at that time, will be limited.
