2010-2011
Our office is currently working on revisions to the application process for graduate students. Information on application steps for the 2010-2011 academic year will be available in early February. Please check back at that time. We strongly suggest that you wait until steps are available prior to sending any documentation to our office. Thank you for your patience.
2009-2010
Federal Stafford Loan
Step 1: Complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) GW's code is 001444.
Step 2: Complete the 2009-2010 GW Loan Questionnaire (Note:
a GW Loan Questionnaire must be submitted each time a Stafford Loan is
requested, see note above if form does not appear.)
Step 3: Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) - Please review the instructions below:
If
your Stafford Loan for the 2009-2010 Academic Year will be the FIRST
Stafford Loan borrowed for attendance at GW, you MUST submit a
completed Master Promissory Note along with the completed Loan
Questionnaire. To complete your MPN online click here.*
*Please be aware of the following quoted system
requirements for using the Opennet web interface regarding Mac OS X.
Please contact Sallie Mae for questions regarding the Opennet site.
"Macintosh Users Only:
This site is not tested to operate using Macintosh
Web Browsers. We cannot guarantee that all site features will be
accessible to you. If possible, please use a Windows compute to ensure
us of this site is successful."
Continuing
graduate students who received a Stafford Loan for the 2008-2009
Academic Year for attendance at GW and are not required to change their
lender, do not need to submit another Master Promissory Note.
If you are completing your second MPN at GW because of a required
lender change, it is important to follow the "New Borrower" links as
you navigate through the online process. Although you have borrowed
before, this enables the completion of a secondary and overriding
document, which is required for the processing of your loan. You will
not be required to complete the Entrance Interview again. We
appreciate your patience through this confusing process.
Step 4:
Mail your completed application materials (Loan Questionnaire, Master
Promissory Note if submitting a paper form, PLUS, and/or Alternative
Loan Application) to: The George Washington University Processing
Center, P.O. Box 675649, Marietta, GA 30006-0019.
(Note: During processing, additional documentation may be required. We will contact you in writing should this need arise.)
Graduate Plus Loan
Step 1: Follow steps
(1-3) for the Stafford Loan since the Graduate PLUS program requires
institutions to determine each student’s eligibility for the Stafford
before processing a GRAD PLUS application.
Step 2: GRAD PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) - Please review the instructions below:
If your GRAD PLUS Loan for the 2009-2010 Academic Year will be the FIRST GRAD PLUS Loan borrowed for attendance at GW, you MUST submit a completed Master Promissory Note along with the completed Loan Questionnaire. To complete your MPN online click here.*
