Federal Aid
Students who demonstrate need may qualify for one or more types of federal financial assistance through The George Washington University, including:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and SMART Grants
- Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
- College Work-Study Program
- Federal Perkins Loan
- Federal Stafford Loan
- Federal TEACH Grant
Institutional Aid
Students who demonstrate financial need may qualify for one or more types of need based institutional aid through The George Washington University, including:
- The GW Guaranteed Grant
- The University Alumni Award
- Various endowed awards (check the University Bulletin for a complete list)

Students who demonstrate academic excellence may qualify for one of the following merit based institutional awards through The George Washington University. (Note: Merit awards are counted in our calculation of a family's financial need.)

- Presidential International Scholarship
- Elliot Engineering Honors Scholarship
- Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholar
- Francine Trachtenberg Scholar
- Scottish Rite Scholarship
