The number of students with disabilities pursuing higher education is at an all-time high. In a recent study, the number of postsecondary undergraduate students identified as having disabilities in the United States was found to be well over 400,000, greater than 6% of the student body.

Recent advancements in computer technology, our changing economy, and greater specialization in jobs have led to more career opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Many of these careers require preparation through postsecondary education.

In compliance with federal guidelines, DSS ensures that qualified students with disabilities have full access to GW's educational opportunities.
