Referral Assistance
All students are welcome to call or come in for an appointment at the University Counseling Center (UCC). The UCC provides brief individual services, but resources are available to assist students in getting set up with specific needs and longer-term community services. There are three ways in which a student can obtain information about therapists in the nearby community:
- All students can make an appointment with a UCC counselor, and at that appointment the counselor can provide a list of therapists in the nearby community. The counselor can provide a list specific to a student's medical insurance plan and financial situation. Call 202-994-5300 to set up an appointment to speak with a UCC counselor and obtain a personalized list of referral resources.
- All students can call the counseling center and ask to speak with the Case Manager. The Case Manager can provide the student via phone or e-mail a personalized list of referral resources, also specific to a student’s medical insurance plan and financial situation. Call 202-994-5300 and ask to speak with the Case Manager.
- All students can use the link below to search for a counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist through their individual health plan. Students can select male or female providers from the list, and many websites allow the student to also select for specialists in particular areas (i.e. anxiety, Eating Disorders, etc.) If you do not see your specific insurance company, you can search online or call to make an appointment or speak with the Case Manager at the UCC for more specific assistance.
