Staff

The staff at the University Counseling Center includes psychologists and postdoctoral-level counselors. While some of our staff has particular areas of expertise, each staff member is trained to assess and to treat a variety of clinical concerns. Staff at the University Counseling Center is also available to consult on a variety of issues affecting student growth and development. This consultation can take the form of providing information and materials, assisting with workshop design, or facilitating programs.

John Dages, Ph.D. (Indiana University), Interim Director, Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology. Individual, couples, groups, eating disorders, body image issues, addictions, men's issues, adjustment-related concerns, consultation and outreach, supervision, management/organizational issues.

Barbara J. Brown, Ph.D. (Boston University), Associate Director. Individual, couples, group psychotherapy, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, self-identity issues, adjustment issues in students of color.

Eliot B. Altschul, Ph.D. (California School of Professional Psychology), Staff Psychologist. Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender concerns, spirituality, personality disorders.

Stephanie T. Burns, Ph.D. (Pacific Graduate School of Psychology), Staff Psychologist. Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, sexual abuse and trauma, interpersonal relationships difficulties, multicultural counseling especially with international students, Asian American populations, and LGBTQ-identified populations.

Debra L. Davis, Ph.D. (University of Maryland), Staff Psychologist. Individual and group therapy, time management, stress management, multicultural student concerns, adult children dealing with family stress (e.g., mental illness, substance abuse, divorce), diversity awareness and diversity dialogue workshops.

Diane M. DePalma, Ph.D. (University of Rochester), Staff Psychologist. Individual and group psychotherapy, depression, loss/bereavement, multiple role and time management, stress management, relaxation techniques, crisis intervention/suicide prevention, management/organizational issues.

Grace Kim, Ph.D. (University of North Dakota), Staff Member. Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Multicultural counseling, social justice, GLBTQ issues including sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender concerns, women's issues, body image concerns, eating disorders, interpersonal relationship difficulties, and depression.

Ryan S. Adams, M.Ed. (Arizona State University), Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow. Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment concerns, career exploration, peer education program, multicultural counseling, psychological wellbeing.

K. Leigh Stewart, Psy.D. (Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology), Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow. Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy.
